More views of the dress

Dress to alter

I bought this at the shop at FIT. Alas! I envisioned wearing it with boots, a long sleeve t and belt. I never tried it on. The armholes are too small.The body of the dress has a nice drape. I think it is raw silk.  The yoke and sleves are made from a heavier fabric which might be upholstery fabric. I am deciding how to alter it and give it a new life. I'll keep you posted. Any ideas?

Getting Started!

The New Year is always a time for taking stock of oneself. Looking at the year past where we've been and looking ahead to the future. I have had a year of experiences which have changed me as a person. The death of one good friend and many new  friendships which sprang from that. Getting back into nature with hiking and back into the creative land of the imagination. I've been taking pictures, photoshopping, drawing and painting and knitting and sewing. I've been inspired by people on the street. Afew weeks ago I was passing FIT and spotted this student. I thought she had a fantastic look and she was nice enough to allow me to photograph her. I went to the student shop and bought this
